How to Make Out of China Style Chicken
Have you ever wondered why Out of China chicken has such a tender texture and such a special flavor? Today we'll tell you our little secret: it all starts with the marinade.
In our kitchen, we work exclusively with chicken breast, as it contains less fat and allows us to achieve a lighter result. But, since chicken breast is a drier meat, it's important to treat it with care.
🥢 Step 1: Cut and Marinate
Cut the chicken breast into strips or cubes, depending on the recipe you're going to prepare.
Next, we add our basic marinade mix:
- Sesame oil
- Ground white pepper
- A pinch of salt
- A splash of water
Water is key: chicken breast is naturally quite dry, and adding it helps make the meat more tender.
We marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for about 2 hours, covered with plastic wrap.
🍗 Step 2: Our favorite way to prepare it
One of our most beloved versions—and the most classic—is sesame-crusted chicken.
We mix breadcrumbs with sesame seeds, coat the marinated pieces, and fry them until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. A true classic that never fails.
🥜 Step 3: The Out of China Touch
To give it our signature touch, we prepare an irresistible dipping sauce:
- Peanut butter
- Tahini
- Soy sauce
- A little water to adjust the consistency
The result is a smooth, aromatic sauce, perfect for dipping every bite.
